This 2001 K1200 RS was a barn find that had stood for a while but with relatively low mileage. I bought it unseen and took a chance with the motor but it has low mileage for its age. It seems to have done a constant 1000mile per year so not heavy use. It is my fourth build so have learnt a little. It is very different but I am happy with the result so far. Below are before and after pictures followed by a blog of the build process.

Build Time: 1 Year

Motorcycle Cost: £3000

How much was spent on the bike: £3000

This 2001 K1200 RS was a barn find that had stood for a while but with relatively low mileage. I bought it unseen and took a chance with the motor which turned out to be amazing. It is my fourth build so have learnt a little. It is very  different but I am happy with the result so far. Below are before and after pictures followed by a blog of the build process.

THE BEGINNING

The rear seat subframe was made from mild steel. It was pitched to give a moderately aggressive style while still retaining some resemblance of comfort. The Antigravity Li battery was mounted at the back of the frame under the seat.

The seat cowl was purchased on ebay. It was a little on the thin side, so I reinforced it with a few extra layers of glass. The seat was made from 20mm ply which is good to work with and give a strong base. The upholstery was done by Viking Seats who did an outstanding job.

The Wheels were powder coated in Silverline Gold by Primo Alloys, what more can I say.

Still To Do Dec 2021

Fit oil cooler, wiring, petrol pump and speedo. Fit new CR Taper Renthal handlebars.
